The Ving Tsun System

Ving Tsun Kung Fu was developed by a female monk to deal with the great physical power of the martial arts systems that existed. Ng Mui developed a system which uses the most economic movements to achieve maximum results. She created a simple, results-oriented system that has become known for its efficiency and effectiveness.

The simplicity of Ving Tsun Kung Fu is contained in the following forms and exercises:

FORMS

  1. Siu Nim Tao
  2. Chum Kiu
  3. Biu Je
  4. Moy Fah Jong
  5. Luk Dim Poon Kwan
  6. Bot Jom Dao

EXERCISES

  1. Pak Sao
  2. Pak Dar
  3. Lap Sao
  4. Dan Chi Sao
  5. Chi Sao
  6. Chi Gerk

Beginning students start off by learning the first form, Siu Nim Tao. It is within this form that the student will learn the concept of the centerline, body alignment and the basic hand positions of Ving Tsun. By practicing Siu Nim Tao, the student will also begin to develop their understanding of Ving Tsun concepts, as well as developing their stance, and learning the importance of relaxation. All of this is essential before the student can move on to learning Chi Sao.

In between learning the forms, a Ving Tsun student will learn numerous exercises which are geared toward developing their coordination, timing, sensitivity, balance, and understanding of energistics. They also serve to further enhance the student's understanding of Ving Tsun concepts.
